The front parking lot and entrance drive remains closed for repaving. Parking is available in the parking lot behind the building. The main building entrance and 24/7 hold lockers are accessible via the walkway from the back parking lot.
The front parking lot is expected to be completed at the beginning of November.
Regular curbside pickup service is unavailable while parking lot repaving is underway. Patrons who require this service may submit an accommodation request for curbside service. Patrons who have an accommodation request on file may continue to request curbside pickup service at the Farmington Hills location.
The lower-level restrooms are currently being renovated, and a temporary wall has been installed around the construction area. Public restrooms remain available on the Library’s main level.
The lower-level Children’s Department area at FCL Farmington Hills (32737 W. 12 Mile Rd.) will be closed and inaccessible from November 30, 2026, through June 2027, while new restrooms and an Information Desk are constructed.
Select children’s services and collections will be relocated to the main-level Heritage Room during the renovation. The Heritage Room will begin offering children’s services on December 4.
Children’s services will be unavailable at this location November 30–December 3 while collections and services are moved upstairs.
Storytimes and children’s programming will resume in January 2027 and continue throughout the renovation.
Elevator service will be unavailable while it is being replaced. During this time, the Meeting Room will not be available for public room reservations. We are awaiting final permitting before a start date to the replacement is confirmed.

What's Happening Now?
Both FCL locations are open during construction with normal hours and services. At FCL Farmington Hills, the Children’s Department, Teen Area, Fiction Browsing Room, and Friends Sale Room have reopened. We expect the front parking lot to reopen early in November. Regular curbside pickup will resume at this location once the front parking lot reopens.
At FCL Farmington, renovations on the lower-level restrooms have begun. A start date for the elevator replacement will be confirmed soon. Outdoor projects at this location are now expected to start in Spring of 2027. More information on the outdoor projects will be announced in 2027.

Both buildings are expected to remain open during construction unless temporary closures are required for safety. Please expect reduced parking availability and increased noise during portions of the projects. Some spaces, collections, and services may be temporarily unavailable or relocated during certain phases of construction.

About Phase One Renovation Projects
These projects are a part of the first phase of the Library's Facilities Masterplan. These improvements will update aging infrastructure, improve accessibility, and create new spaces for the community to gather, study, and play. While timelines may change as work progresses, Phase One is currently anticipated to be completed in June 2027.
The approved projects were selected because they address current infrastructure needs and will significantly enhance building usage. All Phase One projects are funded through the Library's general operating budget.

The existing Quiet Study Room will be reconfigured to create several new small-group study rooms.

An outdoor study and reading garden will be constructed in the currently unused corner outside the main entrance.

The lower-level Children’s Department will receive several targeted improvements, including a newly constructed entryway, Information Desk, and family-style restrooms. Please note that these improvements are focused on specific areas of the department; the project does not include a renovation of the entire Children’s Department.
