Construction on the Farmington Community Library's first phase of renovation projects is tentatively scheduled to begin September 8, 2026, at both FCL locations.
These projects represent the first phase of the Library's Facilities Masterplan, which was introduced in 2025 to guide future building improvements and strengthen the Library's role as a welcoming community space.
Phase One focuses on essential accessibility improvements, aging infrastructure updates, and the creation of new spaces for the community to gather, study, and play.
Construction is expected to last approximately nine months, with projects tentatively scheduled for completion in June 2027.
All Phase One projects are funded through the Library's operating budget.
What to Expect During Construction
Renovation work will take place simultaneously at both Library locations. The Library expects to remain open throughout construction, although there may be occasional short-term building closures if needed to safely complete specific phases of construction.
Patrons should expect increased construction noise and reduced parking at both locations. Temporary closures of specific areas, relocated collections, and occasional service interruptions will occur at various stages of the project.
The Library will work closely with contractors to minimize disruptions whenever possible while safely completing the improvements.
Construction schedules may change as work progresses. The Library will continue providing updates throughout the project.
