Federal and State Tax Forms and Instructional Booklets 

The Library has physical copies of the following U.S. Federal 2024 tax year forms and instructional booklets available at both locations: 

• Form 1040 (U.S. Individual Income Tax Return) 
• Form 1040-SR (U.S. Income Tax Return for Seniors) 
• 1040 (and 1040-SR) Instructions 

We will print copies of any federal or state tax forms free of charge for patrons at both FCL locations. Please visit the Information Desk to request prints. We will not be able to provide free prints of the Instruction Booklets due to their length. The Library generally receives MI 1040 Instruction Booklets and MI 1040 CR-7 Instruction booklets from the State of Michigan near the end of February or the beginning of March.

In Person Tax Assistance at the Costick Activities Center – Appointment Required 

A limited number of appointments will be offered at the Costick Center to assist with simple E-file tax returns. Call (248) 473-1851 to be placed on the list. An appointment is required.

Appointments will be scheduled for Tuesdays & Fridays, February 4 – April 11.

Members of AARP, with special training from the IRS, will assist with your tax return. Assistance is provided for Federal, State, homestead, and energy credit forms, but not for rental or business income. 

This assistance is provided in person. After you have an appointment scheduled, you will need to pick up an intake form at the Costick Center. This form will need to be completed before your scheduled appointment.
