This is your chance to create a library card design for the Farmington Community Library! The library represents many things to different people. Your design should celebrate the Library community, services, or an experience you have had at FCL. What does that mean? It is up to each artist to interpret!

Winning designs are voted on by library staff and will be announced in December, 2024. Designs that do not include a signed entry form will not be considered. Winning designs from the 2023 Library Card Design Contest are still available to choose as your FCL Card. Check them out at the link below!

Contest Guidelines

Create and submit an original work of art using the Contest Design Template linked below. The library represents many things to different people. Your design should celebrate the library community, services, or an experience you have had at FCL. What does that mean? It is up to each artist to interpret!

Please do not submit artwork that includes copyrighted characters or graphics. The library will not consider artwork with copyright infringements in the final vote.

A winning design will be selected in each of the following age groups:

  • Ages 5-12
  • Ages 13-17
  • Ages 18+

Submissions may be in any art medium (illustration, pen, photography, etc.). Submissions can be physical works of art or digital graphics. Last year, many of the physical entries were drawn/colored directly onto the Design Contest Template.

Designs submitted online should be high resolution if possible, at least 300dpi. The following design formats will be accepted: .jpeg, .png, .ai, .eps, .psd, and .pdf. Artwork that contains copyrighted graphics or characters will not be considered.

Designs do not need to include the FCL logo; however you are welcome to incorporate our logo. Logo files can be downloaded using the links at the bottom of the this page.

  • Submissions must follow the dimensions included in the Contest Design Template
  • Design content must be appropriate for all ages

Entry Instructions

Download the Contest Design Template below or pick up a print copy at either FCL location. Review the template and dimension requirements. You may recreate the template on your home computer, but you must keep the dimensions the same to ensure the entirety of your design will fit on the card.

All Submissions are due by midnight on September 30, 2024. Winning designs will be announced in December. Physical entries can be submitted at the Information Desk at either FCL location. A signed Entry Form must be submitted with each entry to be considered. The Entry Form is linked below.

Digital entries can be uploaded using the online submission form below that includes a signed acknowledgement. You do not need to upload an Entry Form if you are submitting your design using the form below.

Questions about the design contest can be directed to sarah.zitter@farmlib.org.

Have fun! Staff absolutely loved seeing all of the creative designs last year. We cannot wait to see what your imaginations come up with during this year's contest!
