What can I do with my FCL card?

With a Farmington Community Library (FCL) card, you can borrow a wide variety of items, including books, movies, music, games, educational kits, electronic devices and more. You can also use a library card from one of our partner libraries to borrow these items.

FCL also offers digital collections of eBooks, eAudiobooks, movies, music, research databases, and online learning platforms. These resources can be downloaded, streamed or accessed online with an FCL card number.

Other benefits of your FCL card include:

  • Borrow items from libraries across the country through InterLibrary Loans.

  • Reserve free group meeting spaces.

  • Get online access to The New York Times, The New York Times Games and The Wall Street Journal.

  • Enjoy discounted tickets to local shows, parks and cultural attractions.

Note: You do not need an FCL card to visit or use the public spaces at either FCL location. All Library events are free and open to the public, and you do not need an FCL card to attend.

Renewing Your FCL Card

FCL cards expire after 3 years. To renew, visit either FCL location and provide your current proof of address.

Late Items and Replacement Fees

At FCL, we do not charge late fees on items returned after their due date. This policy helps ensure that everyone in our community can enjoy fair access to the Library's collections.

What does no late fees mean? You won’t be charged a daily fee if you return an item after the due date. However, you are still responsible for returning your items.

Lost or Damaged Items

  • If an item is lost or damaged, you will be charged a replacement fee.

  • An item is considered lost if it is not returned within 45 days of the due date.

  • An item is considered damaged if it can no longer be used by others.

Fees on Your Account

  • If you have a lost or damaged item, a replacement fee will appear on your account.

  • If you return a lost item, the replacement fee will be removed from your account.

  • If your fees for lost or damaged items total $15 or more, your account will be placed on hold until the fees are paid.

Please note: Items borrowed through the Interlibrary Loan services may have different guidelines, including late fees, since they come from other libraries.

Third-Party Notifications

  • If your fees exceed $25 for more than 21 days, a third-party agency (UMS Unique Management Services) will contact you by phone and mail to request payment.

  • At this point, a $10 service fee will be added to your account.
