Library Board

Ernie McClellan is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in business operations and customer experience. He currently serves as the Senior Business Operations Manager for Ford's joint venture, Percepta, overseeing operations across North America for Ford Pro Intelligence. Additionally, he is the Managing Broker at EMI Agency and has been a licensed insurance professional since 1997.

Ernie's career highlights include managing successful sales operations at Sprint and introducing innovative technology and processes to the Kansas City (MO) election board, earning recognition from the Election Assistance Commission. He later transitioned to consulting, collaborating with industry leaders such as Accenture, Bertelsmann, and Cognizant to develop and refine world-class customer experience solutions and teams.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ernie has contributed to his community through various leadership roles. He has served as a steering committee member for Heart of America United Way’s Young Leaders Society, Secretary of Mental Health America of the Heartland, and a board member of the Troy Nature Society, which operates the Stage Nature Center.

Ernie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Rockhurst University and also attended Fayetteville State University.

Dilhara Muthukuda is a public health professional with over a decade of experience in non-profit, government, and healthcare sectors. She holds a Master's in Public Health from Boston University and a bachelor's degree in science from Michigan State University. When not working, she volunteers as a coach for a local tennis association. Dilhara, along with her husband, relocated to Farmington in 2022. Around town, you may spot her jogging at Shiawassee park or exploring the Saturday farmers market.

Kathie Brown’s family moved to Farmington Twp/Farmington Hills in 1957 and this is where she chose to raise her own daughter and two sons. She has enjoyed watching the libraries grow over the years and is grateful to be appointed to the Library Board where she can provide guidance and help the library flourish.

Her love of libraries sent her on a professional journey where she worked 44 years at various institutions, including West Bloomfield Library, Franklin Library (Director), Brandon Township Library (Director), The Library Network, a 65-member library consortium (sole software support and trainer), Providence Hospital Medical Library and the Farmington Community Library.

During her 20 years at FCL, she served as the Coordinator of Automation and Volunteers installing and administering the self-checks and security gates, Polaris ILS (Circulation, Cataloging, Acquisitions and Serials modules and the Online Catalog), the Material Return Conveyor System, MELCat (MI Electronic Catalog) for Interlibrary Loan, eBooks, eAudiobooks, Streaming Media and others services. Her knowledge of every aspect of the library and having worked with staff in all departments is very beneficial as she serves her terms as a Library Trustee.

She is currently serving on the Farmington Hills Beautification Commission, as a Board Trustee for The Library Network, as a Director for the Beautification Council of Southeastern Michigan, as Treasurer of her civic association and as an election official for Farmington Hills. She loves to spend time with her family, garden and read.

Has been a Farmington Public Schools teacher (including teacher librarian) for 24 years. He lives with his wife Denise (also an FPS teacher) in Farmington.

Renee Murphy is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, and has worked as an Occupational Therapist is a variety of settings, including home care, hospitals, rehab facilities, inpatient Psychiatry, and in several school systems.

Ms. Murphy presently serves as member of the Farmington Community Health Commission.

Ms. Murphy and her husband Patrick have a property management business. They have lived in Farmington Hills for 30 years, and have raised 3 children here.

Sharon Snodgrass is presently retired. Previously she was a Vice President and Trust officer of Comerica Bank, a mathematics teacher at Northville High School and for many years an attorney in private practice with the Livonia firm of Creighton, McLean and Shea.  She has served on various boards and commissions over the years including Livonia Chamber of Commerce, Farmington Hills Commission on Children Youth and family, Pewabic Pottery and the YMCA.

Ms. Snodgrass and her husband Ken have lived in their Farmington Hills home for fifty years. She is looking forward to contributing her experience and knowledge to the Library as a Library Trustee.

Dr. Steven Snead serves as the Supervisor of the Curriculum & Assessment Unit at Oakland Schools Intermediate School District. In this role, he leads a team of Education Services Consultants, Specialists, and Project Assistants to provide educators across the 28 districts and 26 charter schools of Oakland County with professional learning, resource development, and consultation to support deep learning for all students. Signature projects of his team include the MAISA Units of Instruction, Project Literacy Essentials Oakland, Renaissance DnA, the Atlas Curriculum Management System, Math Recovery, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Student Support (MTSS). He also leads the Oakland Schools Research, Evaluation, and Assessment team, which provides assessment development and data analysis support to all county educators. 

Outside of Oakland Schools, Dr. Snead is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Michigan Assessment Consortium, helping to promote assessment literacy across the state of Michigan. He is also on the Executive Planning Committee of the Michigan School Testing Conference and the Building a Better Assessment Future Conference. He’s given numerous local, statewide, and national presentations on assessment focused practices, including district assessment design, formative assessment, MTSS, educator evaluation, and equitable assessment practices. Nationally, he has presented at the National Blue Ribbon Schools Conference, the National Conference on Student Assessment, and the upcoming 2025 Reidy Interactive Learning Series.

Dr. Snead is a proud graduate of Cass Technical High School in Detroit. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University, and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri. The focus of his doctoral research was exploring the utility of interim benchmark assessment data in classroom teacher instructional decision-making.
