RE: Letter of Intent to Retire
It is with bittersweet emotions that I share my decision to retire from the Farmington Community Library. After 34 years spent serving this wonderful institution, I can truly say I have cherished every moment.
When I stepped into the role of Director four years ago, I knew the path ahead would be both challenging and rewarding. At times, it felt like for every step forward, we took two steps back. Yet, with the unwavering support of the Board and the dedication of our amazing staff, we persevered. Together, we made significant progress and laid the foundation for a bright future.
One of the key turning points during my tenure was our ability to look ahead. Through collaborative efforts, we developed a Strategic Plan, conducted a Space Utilization Study, and created a Master Plan—all of which generated genuine excitement about the library’s future.
Our efforts also culminated in a very successful millage campaign. The overwhelming support from our community was incredibly meaningful and validated the time we spent engaging, listening, and evolving to meet the needs of those we serve. That vote of confidence reaffirmed our relevance and the value we bring to our community.
Today, I can say with confidence that FCL is in a strong and vibrant place. It feels like the right moment to pass the torch to someone new, someone who can carry forward the vision and momentum we’ve built together.
Thank you all—staff and board—for allowing me the honor of being part of this journey. I hope to continue to be a part of FCL as a Substitute Librarian and/or as a volunteer for the Farmington Friends of the Library.
My last day with FCL will be January 9, 2026.
Sincerely,
Kelley Siegrist
